A full post-and-beam frame for a 2,400 sq ft mountain home. Douglas fir throughout, with hand-cut mortise-and-tenon joinery at every connection. The king post truss in the great room spans 28 feet without intermediate support — held together by wood and geometry, no steel plates.
A 10-foot dining table from a single black walnut slab, book-matched and joined with butterfly keys. The base is hand-forged steel by a local blacksmith — one of those collaborations where the materials talk to each other. Finished with tung oil, hand-rubbed to a soft sheen over six coats.
A wall-hung tool cabinet in cherry with 32 custom-fitted compartments for hand planes, chisels, and marking tools. Every tool has a home. The doors are frame-and-panel with a haunched tenon at each corner. This is the piece I look at every morning before starting work.
A 36-inch relief carving of a great blue heron in basswood. Carved with gouges and a mallet over four weeks — no power tools, no shortcuts. The feather detail took longer than everything else combined. Commissioned for a lakeside cabin, mounted above the fireplace where the light catches the depth of the cuts.
